May Wrap Up

May was a very hectic month for me, to put it nicely. If I wasn’t putting it nicely, I would say that it was one of the worst months I’ve had in a while 😂.

Thankfully, though, while my personal life may have been a mess, it was a great blogging and reading month! I was able to complete 1 of the 2 books on my May TBR (The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, which was glorious), and kept up with posting by being very diligent about planning and scheduling my posts.

I also created a separate Twitter account for all book-related activities, and got to do a lot more interacting with some fellow book bloggers (special mention to Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews, Liam @ Hey Ashers!, and Fatima @ Noteable Pad for just being amazing). Being a part of this community just becomes more and more gratifying every month, and I’m so glad that I returned to become more active in this community.

Books I Read

Compared to the 1 book I read in April, May was a pretty good reading month for me! In total, I read 11 books this month. I actually enjoyed most of the books I read, and absolutely adored a few, but I did have to give my first ever DNF – I DNF’d The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan. It was really difficult for me to do, because I never DNF books, and I especially would have never expected myself to DNF a Rick Riordan book. But honestly, The Hidden Oracle just confirmed what I’ve been suspecting since finishing off the Heroes of Olympus series – I’ve outgrown Rick Riordan.

Anyway, onto the actual books I read! I’ll be linking my reviews to all these books down below.

  • We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson – ★★★½
  • The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan (The Trials of Apollo #1) – DNF
  • The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson –★★★½☆ (review to come!)

Books I Obtained

I actually posted a book haul yesterday, if you guys want to check that out, but I obtained 13 physical books and 2 e-books this month!

  1. Yeeep! You definitely had a great bookish month! Hope we continue them! 🙂

  2. Aw, Katherine, I feel the same way about you! You’ve made my blogging experience so fun. You’re such a kind, thoughtful and all-round brilliant person. I can’t wait to read more from you and find our more about you too 🙂

Here’s hoping you’ll have a great month! (both reading and personal life)

  3. AHH, SO MANY FABULOUS BOOKS! I really, really enjoyed The Winners’ Curse (one of my favorite fantasy books of all time) and I’ll Give You the Sun so I hope you end up enjoying them as much as I did. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous recap! ❤

  4. A seriously great bookish month! I’m also thinking about starting a Twitter account dedicated only for bookish stuff, maybe later this month. Hope you’ll also have a wonderful month ahead! Happy reading. 😉

  5. Congrats on reading so many good books! I just finished reading The Raven Boys this month. Half way through I had to go back and order the second and third installments as well. I really needed an awesome series after reading The Half Bad trilogy by Sally Green and these books have certainly delivered so far. I ordered We Are the Ants a few days ago and it looks great.

  6. I’m so sorry you had such a terrible month. Are things looking better/getting under control now? If you need a life cheerleader, I’m got at pretending to wave pom-poms around.

Honestly, you’re one of my favorite bloggers, hands-down. It totally made my day to see you enjoy chatting with me, too. *Blogger high-five.* 😀

How on earth are you so productive? Seeing all that you’ve read, and all the posts you’ve written, has given me a serious case of WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE OH GOD. It’s incredible. Congrats on getting so much done!

  7. Ahhh, I’m so sorry this month has been awful for you too 😥 I’m so glad we managed to stumble across each other’s blogs and start talking because you’re honestly one of my favourite people ever ♥ I hope June is better for you!

You had an amazing reading month though!! I really want to read I’ll Give You the Sun and hopefully this month I’ll finally be able to start Throne of Glass, haha. I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy The Hidden Oracle. There’s no point reading things we’re not enjoying though so don’t feel too bad over the DNF! Amazing haul too 😍
